Jeep Suspension Problems
So I've been having some driveability issues with the jeep lately, mainly it seemed the alignment totally ate shit, wasn't sure why, well I checked it out last night and it looks like my upper-control-arm bushings are fucked on at least one side. Since the jeep is pushing 30, and 300k miles, I'm get...

Re: Recasing the Yaesu in a Box
Power input: https://powerwerx.com/panelpole-panel-mount-powerpole-housing The 19AH SLA's are still the lowest cost (and least complex) replacement option out there, and are certainly the most drop-in compatible of any system out there. I looked, and I think I saw amazon had either the 19AH, or a co...

Re: IFAKs Group Buy?
I ended up going with an IPOK https://www.rescue-essentials.com/nar-ipok-individual-patrol-officers-kit-generation-7/ Arguably, the biggest problems I've had anywhere that I needed medical treatment for, where it wasn't available, and something needed to be done about it: 1) Headache 2) Splinters 3)...

"Black Dog" MRE
Came across this review on youtube, this is actually pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZjCiEjZaw0 It's a "Daily" MRE instead of a bunch of individual meals, each one being over 3000 calories. Compared to a lot of "Daily" storage food, that's an insane amount of calories you'd be needing ...

Re: Renduinix - Arduino Renix Management (Jeep Cherokee 88-91)
Well, that's the problem, the Renix jeep isn't OBD-II, it's ORB (IIRC) has a totally different control layout and pinout.

Backpacking Backpack Packing List
So one of the things I've found helpful for myself for a while is to set up checklists, packing lists and the like. One of my longer term goals has been to set up a packing list for just a general over-night on foot, camping trip. This list isn't totally complete, and leaves some things out (warming...

Re: Hoegee's Loop Overnight Camp - Nov 18,19
So the final plan is in place, we are meeting in the parking lots in the City of Sierra Madre at 1pm, and will carpool up to chantry. We are dropping the long route and will be walking down Cardiac, and then up the "lower winter creek" trail to Hoegee's Campground, expected time is ~2-3 hours. We ar...

Re: goTenna Mesh External Antenna
unless it's aluminized or has some other property that allows it to conduct electricity this should not be an issue. Also in theory you could just have a short length of PVC tube, with an end cap to act as a cover for your device.

Re: goTenna Mesh External Antenna
So you need to figure out what the radiation pattern is of your antenna... a 900mhz with 6db of gain is going to be fairly flat. If you're looking at vertical isolation, there are calculators out there... Since you're running antennas on different bands (but they are ~multiples) you may want to look...

Motorola DTR650 900mhz FH Radio
I saw someone talking about the Motorola DTR 550/650/750 models the other day as a higher security alternate to the baofeng (duh) however does seem to offer some privacy advantages over most of the ham gear out there, namely being frequency hopping. I'm still researching what the capabilities of thi...
